Natalie Carriere, LCSW

At our core, we’re all wired for love and connection. Life experiences- like trauma, loss. or unmet needs- can make it hard to live in that truth. Ther therapeutic relationship can serve as a vehicle to aid in reconnecting with yourself and explore safe connection to another. Past clients have described my style as “compassionate, but not coddling.” I believe each person comes to therapy with their own innate wisdom, and I value collaboration and shared ownership in the healing process. I work with adults (18+) and I am pleased to offer both in-person and virtual appointments.

My approach is eclectic, meaning it is continually evolving and tailored to each individual client. I draw on modalities such as Inner Child Work and Internal Family Systems. I also incorporate Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to help clients find “middle-ground” thinking and embrace the shades of gray between seemingly opposing ideas. I view mindfulness and self-compassion a foundational elements upon which all other therapeutic work is built.

I began my career in the field of social work after earning my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from SUNY Albany. I supported individuals as they navigated various systems, including foster care and legal systems. Early on, I discovered that my true passion lies in partnering with people as they move through periods of transformation. This led me to pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work with a focus on mental health counseling from Loyola University. I went on to work as a psychotherapist in a inpatient hospital setting and later in an outpatient program, where I facilitated group therapy. Throughout my time as a therapist, I have valued creating space for this wisdom to emerge and integrating what I have learned from both my clients and my own professional journey.
