At Mental Health America Lakeshore, we believe hope lives in people. 

In the friend who stays.
The coworker who checks in.
The neighbor who notices.
The teacher who listens.
The person who quietly shows up again and again when someone needs them most.

The HOPE Heroes Awards were created to honor those people. 

These are the everyday difference makers in our community. The people who bring comfort, connection, encouragement, and care through simple but powerful acts of showing up. 

Because sometimes the smallest moments change everything. 

What is a HOPE Hero? 

A HOPE Hero is someone who helps others feel seen, supported, valued, and less alone. 

They may never ask for recognition. In fact, many do not even realize the impact they have had.  

But their presence matters. Their kindness matters. Their support matters. 

Every nomination tells a story. 
A story of compassion. 
A story of connection. 
A story of hope. 

And those stories deserve to be shared. 

Why This Matters 

At Mental Health America Lakeshore, our mission is to promote mental health through education, support, advocacy, and community connection. Our vision is a community where everyone feels supported, valued, and able to thrive. 

The HOPE Heroes Awards brings that mission to life. 

When we recognize people who care for others, we strengthen the kind of community we all want to live in. A community where people lift each other up. A community where no one has to carry hard things alone. 

Hope grows when people show up for one another. 

Who Should You Nominate? 

Think about the people who make a difference through their actions, presence, and care. 

Someone who: 

• Offered meaningful support
• Showed consistent kindness and encouragement
• Helped others feel seen and valued
• Strengthened the community through compassion
• Brought hope, comfort, or courage to someone else

• Celebration at our annual There is Hope Suicide Awareness and Prevention Walk

Most importantly, their story will help remind others that hope is real and that people who care deeply still exist all around us.
