FAQ

Understanding your rights and advocating for your coverage is critical in today’s complex system. This resource will help you take informed steps to access the care you deserve—because mental health treatment is a right, not a privilege.

Q: How much do resources on Cover My Mental Health cost?

A: Zero. All resources are provided for free.

Q: Isn’t there a law that requires insurers to pay for mental health and substance use disorder care?

A: There are both federal and state laws that require insurers to pay for this care, though the full expectations of those laws have not yet been met. The laws have enough exceptions and room for interpretation that enforcement has been challenging. While policy experts work to improve the legal requirements, Cover My Mental Health provides resources you can use today.

Q: What if I can’t find information on Cover My Mental Health for addressing my family’s issue?

A: Send an email to contact@covermymentalhealth.com to request information to help with your obstacle. Do not send any personal health information, just a description of the situation you’re facing.
