Mindfulness in Recovery

A mindfulness practice can enhance the process and journey of recovery. Below are some benefits specific to those in recovery in addition to general mindfulness benefits.

  • Become more aware of our emotions, mental state, and behaviors and their connection in a non-judgmental and compassionate way
  • Notice triggers and learn to pause before acting vs reacting on autopilot according to past behaviors and physiology
  • Create a healthier relationship with discomfort in challenging situations to then be able to make more skillful choices
  • Learn to move on from the past, focus on steps to create a healthier future, and live fully in the present moment
  • Develop a healthier lifestyle that promotes long-term recovery
